Kazumi T. Shimokawa was born and raised in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, about forty minutes away from Boston. He studied film scoring and music production at Berklee College of Music.

As a multi-instrumentalist, he has performed around the world for many renowned artists such as Leroy Sanchez, Lisa Loeb, Madilyn Bailey, Kaoru Miyazaki, Eden Kai, Mayssa Karaa, Kat McDowell, and Jen Foster.

In 2017 he toured the U.S., Europe, and Australia with Leroy Sanchez in his “Elevated” tour. In 2019 he performed at Billboard Osaka and Tokyo with Lisa Loeb. He also played on Lisa Loeb’s Grammy winning album, “Feel What U Feel”. In 2020 he performed at the grand opening of Berklee Abu Dhabi, the school’s first educational program in the Arab world.

As a composer and orchestrator Kazumi has worked on countless films with acclaimed film scorer, Nathan Wang. Some of his works include: “Kung Fu Yoga” featuring Jackie Chan; “Detective Chinatown 1 & 2” featuring Wang Baoqiang; and “My Lucky Star” featuring Zhang Ziyi.

As a music producer he has worked with Eden Kai, Kaoru Miyazaki, Kat McDowell, Will Makar, Daniel Sobrino, and Sonali.
